COD and BOD reduction

Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent that removes biodegradable and non-biodegradable organic matter present in wastewater. Its action reduces COD, by minimizing the amount of oxygen needed to oxidize organic compounds, and BOD, by making the remaining organic matter more biodegradable. Preoxidation and Biodegradability Enhancement

Ozone can be applied in the pretreatment phase, improving the biodegradability of pollutants and enhancing the efficiency of downstream biological processes. This approach reduces the pollutant load and optimizes the performance of treatment plants.

Recalcitrant Contaminant Removal

Ozone is particularly effective in the removal of recalcitrant organic pollutants, such as phenols, pesticides and pharmaceutical compounds, which cannot be easily removed by conventional methods.

Final Disinfection

In the final treatment phase, ozone ensures the elimination of bacteria, viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms, guaranteeing a safe effluent for discharge or reuse.
